I was referred to Mr Magra by my doctor following problems and pain with my left knee. Mr Magra was extremely professional and helpful, he reviewed the X Rays and scans and carried out an examination, from which he decided upon a course of action and treatment, best suited to my needs. On his advice, a cortisone injection was administered by my General Practitioner, which eased the pain very much. When I attended again for a further consultation, I was early and it was the lunchbreak. Mr Magra came out to get a drink and, as I was sat near the machine, he kindly offered to get me a drink. Rather than keep me waiting for my appointment, he saw me early during his break and checked progress, with a further plan of treatment, which I am undertaking now. An absolute gentleman and someone who is so friendly, caring and approachable, that, like many others have indicated, you feel totally confident in whatever treatment or procedures Mr Magra recommends or may carry out. Cannot recommend Mr Magra highly enough and am very grateful for his help so far.

I can't thank him enough for giving me the life that I can now get on with. He made me feel very comfortable from start to finish. Total hip replacement .. From consultation to last check up absolutely brilliant ! Mr Magra very knowledgeable & had time for me. My operation went well & procedure explained very well. Recovery also went as expected & 10 weeks after the procedure I have returned to work & walked 4 miles last weekend ,- before my operation I could not walk 4 minutes without pain , could not sleep & affected my life in all ways. I feel like a new women - am sleeping & staying fit. Thanks to Mr.Magra but also all the staff at Lancaster who were so professional in every way. I will be back to have the other one done next year.Thankyou again.

From my first consultation with Mr Magra to the operation which was brought forward I cannot give enough praise . I was struggling at work with a nagging ache in my hip, couldn't walk much distance without pain had stopped cycling due to pain getting on and off my bike Had a total hip replacement on 11/11/25,was so good next day to feel level again.My recovery went really well was on one crutch within two weeks increasing walks daily and no crutches by Christmas, actually managed to go watch Morecambe on boxing day. Come the new year had no pain at all in my hip and have been active like I was 4 years ago. Returned to work last week 9 weeks after the operation Can't thank Mr Magra and the staff enough but especially Mr Magra for giving me my quality of life back Once again thank you so much

I recently under went a total knee replacement, it has completely changed my life. I have waited for nearly 9 years after constantly being turned down from another hospital injection after injection. After my consultation from Mr Magra which was very welcoming and he listened to my problems with my knee having missed lots of time off work due to the pain and disability , I had an x-ray which confirmed I needed a new knee, within a week I was contacted and had the operation. I received excellent care at Spire and thank everyone from Staff Nurses , night staff , catering, admin and cleaning staff you were all wonderful and made my stay comfortable .I would like to say a big thank you to Mr Magra and his staff in the theatre as a result I am now back at work , walking a lot more , feel so much fitter and I only had it done three and a half months ago . You get 10 stars from me .

I was referred to Mr Magra by my GP as I was suffering with severe pain and lack of mobility in my hip despite being only 63. From my initial consultation through to my discharge from his care today I cannot fault him and his team. I was provided with sight of my X Rays, a full explanation of my situation and the options to consider which made my decision to go ahead with replacement surgery easy. Mr Magra is most approachable and you really do feel you are in good hands and any questions are answered fully. I am now pain free and walking without any aids and know the way forward for a complete recovery. I would certainly recommend Mr Magra and his team to anyone requiring his expertise.

My mum recently underwent her second hip replacement with Mr. Magra, and her experience has been outstanding both times. Her mobility has significantly improved and she has regained her independence. Mr Magra is compassionate and caring, taking the time to explain everything in a clear and respectful manner. He treats older patients with dignity and respect, rather than condescension. This approach made a significant difference to my Mum's care, comfort but also in her ability to recover because of the confidence it gave her.

I would just like to say a big 'Thank You' to Mr. Magra for my recent hip replacement, which has been amazing! Before my operation I was in agony when sitting and trying to sleep at night. Mr Magra performed a complex full hip replacement on my left hip on the 28th January 2025. Everything was fully explained to me before the operation and my mind was fully at ease and had complete confidence in him. The operation went extremely smoothly and I was discharged in two days. After three weeks I could walk a short distance unaided and after five I could walk my dog up to three miles without any pain in my hip at all. After eight weeks I am now fully fit to return to my job working globally on pipeline projects in the oil and gas industry.I can’t thank Magra enough for what he did for me and my family, before surgery I could walk no more than forty meters withought having to stop in great pain and unable to do my job.I’m also back riding motorcycles.I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Magra to anyone needing orthopaedic surgery he is a thoroughly nice person and an excellent surgeon.

Thanks to Mr Magra. He is an excellent surgeon if my experience of total knee replacement is anything to go by. I am 85 and have only had one operation previously so I was very nervous about this operation especially as my lower leg was 15% out of alignment. However Mr Magra was reassuring and explained the procedure to take place. All went well and my recovery was quick and successful as I was walking easily within a few weeks though of course total healing takes considerably longer.

A 5 Star Experience Thank you Mr Magra for your excellent surgical skill when giving me my Total Knee Replacement. It has been seven weeks since my operation and I am extremely pleased with the results. I am walking unaided, have very little pain save from where the tourniquet was positioned and have a 115 degree knee bend. From my first consultation I found Mr Magra very professional, extremely knowledgeable, caring and polite. He clearly answered all my concerns putting me at ease. Following my experience and the excellent outcome, I can fully recommend Mr Magra to anyone faced with the prospect of knee surgery. Hi Mr Merzesh Magra, I am writing to leave a review for the recent Knee arthroscopic you performed on 7th May 2024. For two years I was dealing with a painful knee - after fell runs of 10 miles it would swell up and I had a constant 'nagging dull ache" that was ever present. After the arthroscopic I am totally pain free. I was running within two weeks and did not need any pain medication. 6 weeks after the procedure I ran along Offas Dyke -200 miles in 8days so around 25 miles a day. My knee was strong and pain free and it was a joy to be able to participate in the activities I enjoy without that constant background pain. My whole experience of the assessment, procedure and aftercare was efficient and so professional. A very brilliant result - thank you!

Friendly Professional & Caring Explained the procedure in layman terms. 1st Class from start to finish In May I hobbled in suffering excruiating pain in my knee. after my operation i walked out with no aids, pain free. Had my follow up today and again what had been done explained and photos of before and after. Totally amazing. Can not thank or praise Mr Magra enough

I am 7 weeks and 6 days post op, for a complicated left hip replacement. Essentially I had no socket for my left hip. Mr Magra virtually reconstructed my whole upper leg. The chronic pain beforehand meant I was unable to walk much more than 100m without intense pain. Post op I have completed in excess of 2 miles with 2 crutches and 1 mile with a single crutch and I am now starting tingling confidence to lose the crutches altogether. I honestly cannot tell you how much of a difference Mr Magra and his team have made to my life.

I consider myself very fortunate to have been under the care of Mr Magra for two knee replacement operations. Recovery from my recent left knee replacement operation on 29th November 2022 has been amazing. Within a couple of weeks I was comfortably managing to walk unaided. Seven weeks later and I can walk for some distance without any pain. The level of care and expertise I experienced was exceptional. Mr Magra and following support from staff ensured I gained a positive and speedy recovery.

I can’t speak highly enough of Mr Magra’s skill. I’m in mid-recovery (7 weeks) after total hip replacement following severe osteoarthritis, and despite my age (82!) I’m absolutely delighted. Mr Magra is a charming and empathetic surgeon, who treats his patients with the utmost care and professionalism. I’m particularly impressed with his use of very accurate X-rays to pre-plan his operations, which has certainly paid off in my case. After nearly two years of pain, eventually almost unable to climb or descend stairs, I’m rediscovering the delights of walking freely, easily and with pleasure. Heartfelt thanks!

I have been in the care of Mr Magra now for a year and he has been amazing. I’ve had 2 hip replacements – one in April and the other in November – the first was great the second more complicated but throughout Mr Magra has been very informative and caring. He’s never in a rush and answers all your questions to put you at ease. I am looking forward to returning to my active life now I am pain-free and mobile due to his skill.
